How will you define yourself as a Visitor or Manuhiri? A Visitor can be defined as a person, who makes a visit as an individual and leaves as an individual.

Manuhiri on the other hand comes as a collective roopu and leaves as part of our whanau with the invitation to return.

No matter the classification you rate yourself we have the package that can suit your requirement.

Adventure, Cultural, Leisure or the Eco-tourists:

Our Kaitiaki whanau will enable you to experience a two-hour cultural journey on a waka (maori canoe) Kaupapa (activity) that is unique and has been very limited to the wider community. Take this opportunity to be among the many to take up this challenge now.

Mauri te Take… Take up the challenge”

This waka experience allows you to learn about the people of the area, history and understand about the culture and through hearing and feeling the stories related to the migration of maori and the people of the land.

Visitor7circleLearn about traditional chants, salutes, waiata and kupu maori while journeying around the many spectacular Moana (lakes) and Awa (rivers) of the Rotorua area.

While the main base is set at the Rotorua lakefront on Memorial Drive, other packages are available that will meet your needs, for more scenic journeys and more adventurous waters.

Transport can be arranged at an extra cost with certain locations for pick-ups and drop offs.

Become part of our whanau by joining us on your journey.

Waka discovery includes:

  • Two-hour paddling including safety briefing
  • Unique stories of local Māori history
  • Beautiful scenic views
